2003 Small Business Expo & Conference

2003 Expo Keynote Speaker

Paul Douglas • Chairman and Co-Founder | Digital Cyclone, Inc.
Chief meteorologist, WCCO-TV

The Keynote speaker at the 5th annual Minnesota Small Business Expo & Conference will be a familiar name to most Minnesotans.

Paul Douglas will be joining us...not as the WCCO-TV Chief Meteorologist but as a leading American entrepreneur. Paul will be talking with us about Digital Cyclone, his Minnetonka based company along with his personal entrepreneurial history and thoughts. Paul has a national reputation in his field and also as a very successful Minnesota entrepreneur.

Paul Douglas, Chairman and Founder
Douglas is currently the chief meteorologist at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, the top-ranked station in the Twin Cities. He launched EarthWatch Communications in 1990, and today EarthWatch graphics are licensed by hundreds of television stations worldwide. EarthWatch executed an exclusive license agreement with DTN/Kavouras allowing Douglas and his team to develop cutting-edge applications and services for the Internet.

Founded in 1998, Digital Cyclone, Inc.(DCI) has quickly established itself as a leader in providing precise and personalized weather intelligence. Digital Cyclone's first service is My-Castฎ, a revolutionary new way to obtain neighborhood-level weather forecasts via the Internet and email. DCI has created a nationwide network of proprietary computer models to provide precise, personalized weather forecasts tailored to an individual's activities. My-Cast is available at My-Cast.com and through Web sites of media partners in the top markets in North America.

Based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Digital Cyclone was founded in 1998 by Paul Douglas, Craig Burfeind, John Culliton, Peter Resch and Tony Meys.

Douglas has appeared on ABC News Nightline and the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. He is the author of Prairie Skies, and contributes daily radio reports and both print and Web columns on the weather for the Star Tribune newspaper in Minneapolis. Douglas received a bachelor's degree in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University.
