How Government Reform of Health Care Will Affect Small Business

It’s the #1 story on the national news, the Healthcare Bill. Will it pass, will it be defeated or will it go back to committee and be overhauled? Regardless of where you stand on the issue, we are quite possibly on the brink of a new era of Government Healthcare.

  • What does this mean for you and your business?
  • What options will exist?
  • How will insurance coverage’s change?
  • How can you & your employees become wiser health care consumers in order to manage costs?

Our panel of industry experts will present the “current conditions” of reform and policies affecting small business and answer your questions.

Since 2006, Dave Racer has traveled to dozens of states across the country, speaking on health care as a keynoter, continuing education course leader, or panel member. As an author, essayist, public speaker and broadcast personality, Dave Racer’s experience inthe health care sector goes back to his days as editor of “The Reece Report,” a newsletter for physicians, where he observed and analyzed the twists and turns of U.S. health care policy. Later, Dave served as a life insurance agent and held a securities license with New York Life, working with the Bloomington, Minnesota sales office.

Dave is the president and chief executive officer of Alethos Press LLC, a publisher of nonfiction works in the areas of health care, American history, and government policy. Racer is the co-author of three books dealing with the U.S. health care system: Your Health Matters: What you need to know about US health care (Alethos Press LLC 2006), FACTS:Not Fiction, What really ails the U.S. health care system (Alethos Press LLC 2007), and Why healthcare costs so much: The Solution-Consumers (Alethos Press LLC 2009).

James Robert Eelkema is a Board Certified Family Physician and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, he graduated from the University of Minnesota summa cum laude, and earned his MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1979.

He completed a Family Practice Residency in Des Moines, Iowa. With the knowledge, training, and experience of twenty-seven years of primary care, he decided to establish his own practice with its focus on clinical medicine.

His clinical practice, TimeWise Medical could be considered a "throwback" in the health care industry. They do not directly bill insurance companies, readily post a fee schedule on their website and Dr. Eelkema even makes house calls, on short notice.
